Key member of a small close group of engineers developing enterprise CRM and e-commerce software still used by Saks Fifth Avenue, Kohl's, Levi's, Harrah's, Hammer Schlemmer, and many other marquee names. I worked primarily on the central database architecture, data structures, and API.
- Completely refactored central database structure and application APIs for a major product release.
- Developed complex SQL to compare newly published data to old data in publishing system, and to allow concurrent snapshot style versioning transparently within the database.
- Part of a core team to re-architect the system to allow granular publishing
- Revived and developed the primary developer tool, used for gathering performance data from live systems and for editing all configuration settings. Integrated and productized contributed enhancements.
- Independently designed and implemented XML specification for our ubiquitous internal nested data structure
- Adapted primary data structure to handle multiple attribute inheritance without in-memory data duplication
- Proactively deleted and consolidated redundant code throughout the architecture

Worked as one of two engineers in this four person start-up to develop Identify, a precocious meta-data based search engine.
- Developed early prototypes for web commerce search engine using HTML and early JavaScript
- Developed specification for IDML, an early meta-data format for describing web page content and product data for search engines.
- Developed Java web crawler to validate and interpret IDML marked web sites, and load them into our back end search technology.
- Developed an interactive Perl application to design and execute complex rules for converting data into IDML.
