Consulting and developing for adaptation of ShellShadow web application from RoR to Merb.
ShellShadow allows remote support technicians to work without requiring passwords, keys, or accounts.

Co-lead developer for divvy.com
Divvy is developed in Ruby on Rails.
Responsible for scheduling, divvy rules, and a complex Paypal integeration including internal accounting, deposits, and automated refunds.

Created this start-up to develop several innovative Web 2.0 concepts. The first project is a housing search application available at http://www.cribq.com.
CribQ is a highly responsive AJAX application built with Ruby on Rails, Apache Solr (Java search,) and MySQL.
Hosted on Amazon EC2 and uses dynamic scaling, EBS volumes with snapshot backups.
CribQ is a personal project.

Returned to Pogo US to help improve the product line, marketing initiatives, and fix internal business processes and systems.

Worked with new China GM to establish Pogo's first overseas office in Shanghai, China.
- Navigated Chinese government regulations to establish a WFOE (Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise) for minimal capital investment and cost.
- Implemented financial planning and reporting structures.

Key member of a small close group of engineers developing enterprise CRM and e-commerce software still used by Saks Fifth Avenue, Kohl's, Levi's, Harrah's, Hammer Schlemmer, and many other marquee names. I worked primarily on the central database architecture, data structures, and API.
- Completely refactored central database structure and application APIs for a major product release.
- Developed complex SQL to compare newly published data to old data in publishing system, and to allow concurrent snapshot style versioning transparently within the database.
- Part of a core team to re-architect the system to allow granular publishing
- Revived and developed the primary developer tool, used for gathering performance data from live systems and for editing all configuration settings. Integrated and productized contributed enhancements.
- Independently designed and implemented XML specification for our ubiquitous internal nested data structure
- Adapted primary data structure to handle multiple attribute inheritance without in-memory data duplication
- Proactively deleted and consolidated redundant code throughout the architecture

Worked with Erik Logan and Tim Lee to start Pogo Linux, an early Linux focused hardware vendor.

Worked as one of two engineers in this four person start-up to develop Identify, a precocious meta-data based search engine.
- Developed early prototypes for web commerce search engine using HTML and early JavaScript
- Developed specification for IDML, an early meta-data format for describing web page content and product data for search engines.
- Developed Java web crawler to validate and interpret IDML marked web sites, and load them into our back end search technology.
- Developed an interactive Perl application to design and execute complex rules for converting data into IDML.
